Scottsboro City Mayor Jim McCamy recently made note of the Freedom Celebration and parade hosted by Main Street. The event was held on July 4th on the downtown Scottsboro square.

Jackson County Circuit Judge Brent Benson held a presentation on Thursday, July 22, 2021 to talk to local veterans and the community about bringing a Veterans Court to Jackson County. Also present was eight-year Madison County Veterans Court mentor, Colonel Ray Zimmerman (ret.). Zimmerman spoke throughout the presentation, highlighting the process of the Veterans Court from the time a veteran is enrolled in the program, to the time they are awarded their completion.
Agricultural producers who have not yet completed their crop acreage reports after spring planting should make an appointment with the Jackson County Farm Service Agency (FSA) before the applicable deadline.

ALDOT Limits Interstate Construction and Lane Closures
(MONTGOMERY, Ala.) – As motorists plan to travel Alabama highways for the Fourth of July holiday, the Alabama Department of Transportation and the Alabama Road Builders Association are making them aware of changes to a state law to protect the lives of road construction and maintenance workers. Effective, Thursday, July 1, 2021, the fine for any moving traffic violation committed in a construction zone where workers are present will result in a $250 fine or double the regular fine, whichever amount is greater.
