The 50th anniversary of the opening of the first nutrition center in the state of Alabama was held in Scottsboro on September 26. The event was held at the Scottsboro Nutrition Center/ Scottsboro Scottsboro Senior Center, which was the first center in the state of Alabama.
Veterans Helping Veterans learned about Yeoman Courtney through the Jackson County Veterans Affairs Office. The Veterans of VFW Post 6073 and American Legion Post 30 responded to fund and build the access ramp for 37-year-old Yeoman Courtney.
Scottsboro’s own, Dr. Clyde Wilson Butler, Jr. has been awarded the Paul W. Bryant Alumni-Athlete Award.

The Scottsboro basketball program and the Scottsboro Tip-Off Club recently announced that they will host a Jackson County Co-ed Alumni Basketball Game to benefit the Jackson County Sports Hall of Fame. Tip-Off Club President Robin Shelton along with coaches Jason Bell and Brandon Childers recently announced the benefit event.
