Julian Jones, 60, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022 at Erlanger Medical Center. He underwent surgery at Highlands Medical Center in September and was airlifted to Erlanger the following day, where he remained in surgical intensive care until he was transferred to Kindred Hospital. Plans had been made for hospice. Graveside services will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Julian was born on Monday, January 8, 1962 in Scottsboro. He was very musically talented and enjoyed in particular his guitar. He was a diver and swimmer from an early age, had a great sense of humor, was a whiz at crossword puzzles, wrote beautifully and read voraciously. His favorite author was John Steinbeck. He was also a chess player with few equals in the game. Julian battled his personal demons and not always successfully. He knew his bible, loved it, read it and referred to it. He will be missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his mother, Dr. Janice Hodges; stepfather, Thomas Bragg, II; siblings, Walter (Sharon) Jones, Lyda (Russell) Burnette; nieces and nephews, Emma Jones, Hilyer Jones, Winston Jones, Martha Burnette, James Burnette, Walter Burnette. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Henry Jones; maternal grandparents, Dr. E. Julian Hodges, Helen Hodges; paternal grandparents, Homer Jones, Lillie Jones.
