Mr. Douglas E. Early, 81 of Grant, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Grant Memorial Chapel with burial following in Free Home Cemetery.
Doug was born on Friday, October 31, 1941 in Empire, Alabama to Walter and Retha Early. He served in the United States Army for 32 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He also worked as a service manager for Durham Service Company for many years and also served as the pastor of the Free Home Baptist Church for 35 years. During his free time, he was an avid golfer, loved to fish and was a member of the Guntersville Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Early; son, Brian (Becky) Early; grandchildren, AnnMarie Early, Makayla Greene; great-grandson, Ezekiel Jemison; sister, Patricia Tolbert. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edith Early; sons, Blake Early, Don Early.
