Mrs. Bettye S. Elmore, 70 of Scottsboro, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Scottsboro Funeral Home with Rev. Jackie Connell and Rev. Bill Ayers officiating. Burial followed at Liberty Cemetery.

Bettye was a Scottsboro High graduate, and after graduation, she joined the United States Army from 1970 until 1971. After her military service, she worked as a stenographer at Walter Reid Hospital. She also enjoyed canning, gardening, reading, sewing, quilting, computer solitaire, puzzles, gospel music on television and was a General Hospital fan for over 50 years.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John Elmore; children, Tina (Barry) McNabb, Tammy (Brian) Staples, John (Kelly) Elmore; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucy and Bill Mitchell.
