W.C. Buttram, 80 of Sylvania, peacefully passed away on Monday, September 12, 2022 in his home, surrounded by those he loved. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Rainsville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kent Wilborn, Bro. Nathaniel Bates and Bro. Levi Patterson officiating. Burial followed in Union Grove Cemetery.
He was born on Saturday, January 31, 1942 in Sylvania. He graduated from Sylvania High in 1961 and married his sweetheart, Joyce the next year. Together, they built a home and family. W.C. began his furniture business in 1970. He also served 16 years as a member of the DeKalb County Commission; eight of those he proudly represented them as chairman. He just received his 50-year pin as a Mason in 2022.
W.C. had a love and passion for outdoors. He found joy in his family, especially in his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Buttram; sister, Barbara Fairris; daughter, Haven (Randy) Blalock; daughter, Terri (Kent) Wilborn; chosen son, Chris Johnson; grandchildren, Craig (Bridget) Blalock, Tasha (Matt) Mitchell, Teryn (Levi) Patterson, Kendra (Nathaniel) Bates; great-grandchildren, Coletrane Blalock, Carter Blalock, Collin Blalock, Cayde Henagar, Holden Henagar, Cloey (Luke) Wells, Gracey Morgan, Mercer Mitchell, Sawyer Mitchell, Charlsie Mitchell, John Patterson, Blakely Patterson, Kenzie Bates, Nate Bates; great-great-grandchildren, Paisley Wells, Asher Wells.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Buttram; mother, Adell Buttram; siblings, Avonell Anderson, Gene Buttram, Charles Buttram, Don Buttram, Sue Johnson, Waymon Buttram.
