Virginia Edna “Gini” Baxter Stone, 82 of Anniston and formerly of Scottsboro, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. Memorial services were held on Monday, June 20 2022 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Polly Robb officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
She was born on Saturday, March 16, 1940 in New Jersey to the late Arthur and Marguerite Baxter. Gini graduated from Westminster Choir College and accepted a position as Minister of Music at First United Methodist Church of Scottsboro. She married Moody Stone in 1963, and they raised their two sons on the family farm in Larkinsville. Serving several years as a substitute teacher, she later went on to develop the first hospice organization in Jackson County and served as director for several years. She was an active member of St. Luke’s in Scottsboro for many years before moving to Anniston in 2018, where she attended church at St. Luke’s in Jacksonville. Gini was also a devoted member of the Order of the Daughters of the King.
She is survived by her son, Stephen (Cindy) Stone, II; daughter-in-law, Lourie Casteel; grandchildren, Dinah-Shae Stone, Olyvia Stone, Harrison Stone.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Moody; son, David Stone; brothers, David Baxter, John Baxter; grandson, Daniel Stone.
