Date set for CASA Gala Fundraiser

Change a child’s story by purchasing a ticket to the first annual gala. We will celebrate the program with a fun night of music and food. There will be an auction of art work created by children whose lives are being changed by the program.Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of North Sand Mountain provides a voice to children who have been neglected or abused.

About this event
We are planning a night of music, food and fellowship. The children that CASA advocates for are donating artwork for an auction during the gala. They are very excited to see everyone bidding on their artwork.
Saturday, May 21, 2022, 6 – 9 p.m. at Meeks Grain and Gin Event Venue, 200 County Road 58 in Pisgah. This event is semi-formal.

What we do
Court Appointed Special Advocates of North Sand Mountain provides abused, neglected or abandoned children with a highly trained volunteer to advocate for the child’s best interest before family courts in the counties of Jackson and DeKalb in the state of Alabama. Our volunteers are recruited, screened and trained by paid staff. our staff volunteers will then work in conjunction with the judges, lawyers and social workers to help ensure children receive appropriate care and support while navigating the court, child welfare and foster care systems.

CASA of North Sand Mountain advocated for 211 children in 2021 in Jackson and DeKalb County. Two months into 2022, the program is already advocating for 89 children in the court system. Currently, the agency employs just two staff members to recruit, train, review reports, supervise volunteers and attend court. Additional funding will secure the crucial support staff to better assist volunteers who advocate for abused and neglected children here in your community. More than 14,000 of Alabama’s most vulnerable children are attending court hearing, adjusting to new homes and navigating the child welfare system every day. CASA volunteers are trained to advocate for the best interests of these children.
