Sonya Jean Larson, 63 of Athens, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Section Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Glenn. Burial followed at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Sonya was born on Wednesday, October 15, 1958 in South Carolina. She graduated from high school in August, Georgia and returned to Dutton, later earning an AS in accounting and an AS in business administration from Calhoun Community College. She worked for TVA in Alabama and Tennessee and Calhoun College.

She is survived by her mother, Marilyn (John) Fratangelo; “Dad,” Martin Olson-Clifton; brother, Allan Olson; stepbrother, Robert Fratangelo; stepsister, Gina Fratangelo; aunt, Sara Johnson; cousins, Dennis Johnson, Gary Johnson, Drenda Ellis, Suzanne York; several nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends; family of her heart in Athens, Michael (Talitha) Kyle, Tabitha (Jason) Roberts, Ada Shapiro; grandchildren, Shelia Johnson, Hina, Sid, Brentley Kyle. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bill and Jean Murdock; father, Allen Larson; aunt, Gaynell Ryan; uncles, Bobby Medlock, Billy Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant Hill Cemetery, 204 County Road 471, Dutton, Ala. 35744, or to Peace, Love and Animals in Rescue in Athens, 19135 Nuclear Plant Road, Tanner, Ala. 35671, all in memory of Sonya Larson.
