It is with extreme sadness we announce the passing of Mr. Olan Jones. Olan was born on Sunday, March 26, 1939, and he was finally reunited with the love of his life on Friday, April 8, 2022. Funeral services were held on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Grant Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Swords officiating. Burial followed in Old Prospect Cemetery.

Olan lived a long, happy life around the Columbus City area, close to his family, and he passed away at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice Center after having complications from a stroke. He worked hard most of his life as an employee of multiple grain companies and loved talking to all his customers, farmers and friends. His favorite activity on the weekends was to drive around and look at the farmers’ crops. He would always say to whoever was with him on these excursions, “Girl/boy, do you know what’s planted in that field?” Of course, they would say, no, and he would just shake his head. Olan will be missed by all those he left behind. Our hearts are broken by this unexpected loss. He was one-of-a-kind, and to be loved by him was to be truly blessed.

He is survived by his children, Mack Jones, Tracy Jones, Scott Jones; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter on the way. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Linda Jones; granddaughter, Amber Handy; eight siblings.
