Bettey Wilbourn

Bettye Jo Beal Wilbourn, 84 of Grant, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 6, 2022 at the home of her brother. A graveside celebration was held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Gurley Cemetery.
She was born in Garth, Alabama on Monday, May 17, 1937 and was a 1955 graduate of Madison County High. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Grant.
Bettye Jo was a warm and caring people person but also took great pride in being a strong and independent woman. She was witty and blunt but also kind and compassionate. She could flash her beautiful smile and start up a conversation with everyone she encountered. She never knew a stranger and would always make you feel welcomed. She worked at Lakeside High School in Atlanta for over 20 years as a secretary and valued the work and relationships she built there. She graciously assisted in the care of her parents and siblings in their last days. Bettye Jo loved fiercely and deeply, and we take comfort in knowing she is now able to peacefully rest in her heavenly home.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Cheryl) Wilbourn, Kelly (Michael) Brady; grandchildren, Amanda (Mackenzie) Scheerenberg, Joshua Wilbourn, Jeremy Wilbourn, Ashley (Evan) Duteau, Kyle Fleming, Heather Fleming; great-grandchildren, Jackson Duteau, M.J. Scheerenberg, Noah Duteau, and one on the way; siblings, Martha Harless, Mickey (Sandy) Beal; many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Lela Beal; sisters, Margaret Holder, Mary Edgil; brothers, Billy Beal, Bobby Beal.
