The Scottsboro Police Department is pleased to announce that they are now taking applications for the upcoming session of the annual Citizens Police Academy.
The program consists of 9 weeks of hands-on and classroom activities and is designed to give local citizens a better understanding of what law enforcement is all about. The classroom instruction will be approximately 20-24 hours of police training as well as a 6-hour ride-along with on-duty officers.
The objective of the program is not to make the graduates police officers but to better inform citizens of what a police officer’s many functions are and to enhance community relations from the graduates. Class will begin March 10, 2020 and will run thru May 5,2020. Class time is 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. every Tuesday night and takes place at the Scottsboro Police Department court room at 916 South Broad Street.
Applications may be picked up at the Police Department or online at www.scottsboropd.org. Applications must be turned in by February 21,2020. All applicants will be notified by email, mail or by phone upon their acceptance for the class. Please be sure to include a current contact number on the application. Any questions may be directed to Officer Wade Patterson of the Scottsboro Police Department at 256-574-4468 or 256-218-2005.
