Sue Randolph Foster, 87, slipped away from her family peacefully on Sunday, February 13, 2022. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Grant Memorial Chapel with burial following in Old Union Cemetery.
Sue was born on Thursday, August 2, 1934, the only daughter of Lillian Randolph Birdwell. She was born in Alabama and raised in Claysville. Sue married Hoyt Foster, and they were together until his death in 1973, and together they had five sons. Sue loved being called Mama Sue, not only by her sons but also by her friends. She was a lunchroom worker at DAR and was later employed at Teledyne until her retirement in 1999. Sue was family-oriented and loved taking care of family. When anyone mentioned the word go, Mama Sue was always ready. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, shopping and traveling. Later, when she entered the nursing home, she always looked forward to playing bingo and doing her word puzzles. Visits from her sister-in-law were the highlights of her week. As well as seeing family and friends, she especially loved to hear about and see her newest grands. Sue grew to love many of the employees at Barfield Nursing Home, and they loved her in return. The family would like to express their appreciation to all the employees for the loving care they gave her during her stay.
She is survived by her sons, Gary (Gelisa) Foster, Dale Foster, Mike (Glenda) Foster, Bo Foster; daughter-in-law, Barbara Foster; sister-in-law, Mary Phillips; grandchildren, Samuel Foster, Justin Foster, Cain Foster, Nathan Foster, Austin Foster, Tracie Ezell, Felicia Foster, Elizabeth Foster, Mikal Foster; great-grandchildren, Tevin, Gabe, Trey, Matthew, Tyler, Ashlynn, A.J., Rosalee, Ryder, Tyson, Karson, Sloan; great-great-grandchild, Coleson.
