On Monday, December 27, 2021, God put his loving arms around Mr. Michael “Paw” Lewis Horton and lifted him to rest. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Rudder Funeral Home with burial following in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Paw was the first-born child of Blanche Horton and the late L.W. Horton of Scottsboro. He blossomed into this life on Friday, November 6, 1953 and united in holy matrimony to Vickie Sanford in 1980, and to this union, four children were raised, all of whom he loved and cherished. Paw attended George Washington Carver High School and transferred to Scottsboro High, graduating Class of 1972. After attending Northeast State Community College, Paw was employed for 43 years at Goodyear. He joined Greater St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church and was well liked and loved by everyone. He always had an affectionate and charismatic personality, inspiring charm and devotion in others wherever he went. He was always willing to put help a friend or stranger in need, and he will be dearly missed by his family, friends and especially, his grandchildren.
He leaves to cherish his legacy, his loving wife, Vickie Horton; dear mother, Blanche Horton; dear mother-in-law, Bernadine (Leon) Grafton; children, Michael Green, Sherita Sanford, Elizabeth (Lemuel) Lewis, Mikheal Sanford-Horton, Lori Horton; siblings, Deborah (Marshall) Harris, Gregory Horton; honorary sister, Teresa Collier; grandchildren, Mykhael Sanford-McCarver, Liam-Michael Lewis, Nikholas Lewis, Lyriam Lewis, Mya’ Horton; uncles, David Horton, Jimmy (Glenda) Horton; aunt, Faye Horton; very special cousin, James (Toby) Jenkins; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, great admirers and devoted friends.
