James “Rick” Reginald Gibson, 66 of Woodville passed away on Thursday, November 4, 2021. Services were held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Rudder Funeral Home in Scottsboro.
He was born on Thursday, March 31, 1955 to Tommie Hodges and Claudie Gibson. Rick loved traveling with his wife, watching LSU football, collecting guns, riding his motorcycle and playing with his pets. He was a dedicated and hard worker. For most of his adult life, Rick enjoyed traveling the country as a semi-truck driver. After Rick’s truck driving days came to an end, he spent the last seven years selling outdoor products at his business where he developed many lifelong friendships and was a well-respected member of the community. Above all else, Rick was a devoted family man, an excellent husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family more than anything else. He will be remembered for his generosity, loving heart and stubbornness.
He is survived by his adoring wife, Laurie Gibson, with whom they shared 16 wonderful years; children, Robert (Amy) Gibson, Sara (Chris) Whitehead, James Gibson, Jr., Myra Gibson, Olivia (James Bennett) Kreydatus; stepchildren, Jennifer Stevenson, Elizabeth (Jon) Brewer; grandchildren, Virginia Guice, Hannah Guice, Jacob Brand, Hannah Cronk, Gaea Stevenson, Eloise Stevenson, Jonathan Brewer, Layla Brewer; great-grandchildren, Elijah Carden, Grant Guice; brother, Leonard Gibson, Sr.; mother-in-law, Betty Thomas; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Claudia McWilliams, Thomas Gibson, Dorothy Hodges, Joyce Bascus, father-in-law, Charles Thomas.
