Mrs. Doris Hicks Aleknas, 78 of Section passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, September 30, 2021. A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Scottsboro Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Lee officiating. Burial followed beside her husband at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
Doris was born to Dalla and Trecia Hicks on Thursday, May 27, 1943 in Kentucky and married the love of her life, John Aleknas on Friday, February 2, 1962. Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Above all, she was a devout Christian lady and a beloved member of Scottsboro Community Church of God.
She leaves behind her loving children, Jamie (Sean) Burns, John (Denise) Aleknas; cherished grandchildren, Dylan (Madison) Burns, Alyssa (Jacob) Aleknas; great-grandchild on the way; brothers, Clay (Nancy) Hicks, Dallas (Debbie) Hicks; special cousin, Roberta Carlton; nieces and nephews, Bob Pierce, Mike Pierce, Linda Kontoulis, Nancy Kaliszewski, John Morgan, Sherry Edwards, Tony Hicks. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, John; brother, Thurman Hicks; parents; nephew, Mark Morgan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. JudeChildren’s Hospital.
