James Aubrey “Jim” Miller

Mr. James Aubrey “Jim” Miller passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021, in Scottsboro, Ala.

He is survived by his wife, Teri Miller; brother, Dennis Miller (Mary); sisters, Charlotte “Susie” Miller, Ann Miller Gilbert (Dan), Elaine Miller Hallman (Mike), and Nancy Miller; stepbrothers, Jerry Williams (Pam), and Jimmy Williams (Anita); stepsisters, Susan Moulder (Johnny), and Patti Williams; children, Chris Miller (Cindy), Stephanie Miller, Denise Miller Piskorz, and Melissa Miller Howard (Price); grandchildren, James “Jay” Miller, Kelsie Farmer, Mary Katherine Piskorz, Nicholas Piskorz, Matthew, Piskorz, Christopher Piskorz, Genin Howard, Kelli Howard, Beckham Howard, Kimberly Miller, and Cassidy Thomas (Colin); and numerous family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Aubrey Miller and Lorene Sharp Janes, and infant granddaughter Angelica Grace Miller.

Jim was born in Gatesville, Texas on August 27, 1943. He was a U.S. Army Veteran M.P. He was a Scottsboro Police officer for 32 years. Jim graduated from Athens State College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and was a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Quantico, Va. He was a Passed Worshipful Master of Scottsboro Masonic for Lodge #359. He was a Lifetime member of VFW Post 6073.

Jim has a host of friends and family. He loved his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing golf with his brother, and his big red truck.

In Jim’s last few weeks at home the family had such wonderful support from ComfortCare Hospice, and the family would like to thank them all: Lorrie, Brandy, Destiny, Misty, Pastor Rickey, Scottsboro Fire Department, Cloverdale Rehabilitation, and all the caregivers.

Scottsboro Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 28, 2021, from 4-6 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be Wednesday, September 29 at 11 a.m. at Pinehaven Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers: Jeff Miller, Danny Miller, Joey Miller, Stephen Miller, Brent Miller, and Price Howard.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Shriner’s Hospital.
