Bro. Junior was a hardworking businessman. He was the pastor of Skyline Free Holiness Church for 41 years and started out serving the Lord on July 20, 1960. He has been a husband of honor, a father of guidance and a graddad/papaw of fun and laughter. As a pastor, he worked for peace with truth and humility but most of all a pattern that has left an impression on many near and far. He never said you had to do what he taught, but his humble and meek spirit made you want to do it.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Margie Stephens; sons, Daryl (Tammie) Stephens, Rodney (Denita) Stephens; daughters, Patty (Scott) Howell, Tamara (Darrell) Gray; grandchildren, Hayley, Lacey, Cedric, Corey, Jesse, Jordan, Jacob, Juliah, Jarred; 26 great-grandchildren; stepsons, Brian (Kim) Fortner, Shannon (LeAnne) Fortner; step-grandchildren, Carleigh, Cera, Eli, Harley; brothers, Mitchell (Charlotte) Stephens, Randall (Angie) Stephens; sisters, Glenda (bobby) Carden, Wanda (Ray) Thomas; sister-in-law, Evelyn Stephens. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Lillian Stephens; parents, Vernon and Sibyl Stephens; brother, Eugene Stephens.
As he would always say, “I’ve had a good journey.”
