Mrs. Doris Ayers Click, 89 of Grant passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Grant Memorial Chapel with Rev. Joe Teal officiating.
Doris was born and raised in Grant and moved to southern California to live with her brother, Gene and his family not too long after graduating DAR in 1950. She lived there until James Click was discharged from the United States Army when they married and moved to Michigan where they both worked for General Motors. After almost 20 years, they decided to move back to the South, where she lived 40 years in her residence. Everyone who knew her, loved her. She was sweet, loving, caring, giving and very hardworking. When she worked at Teledyne for over 20 years, she would come home after a hard day’s work, set her purse and keys on the patio chair and work in the yard or the garden until past dark. She always had a very strong work ethic and taught her kids and grandkids by word and example. She loved to be social, talk and laugh on the phone, or even better, in person. She could remember people from Grant and everyone they were related to, which was most of the mountain. She loved to garden and grow flowers. For years she had a huge garden and froze and canned enough vegetables for the kids, grandkids and usually enough for others. She had an incredible green thumb.
Doris is survived by her children, Joan (Gary) Hubbartt, Terry (Kristn) Click; daughter-in-law, Dianne Click; grandchildren, Rachael McCarty, Valerie Morris, Casey Kriesky, Ben Click, Stephanie Click; nine + grandchildren (one on the way); siblings, Ann Lowry, Wiley Ayers, Pete Ayers, Gary Ayers. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Click; son, Steve Click; mother, Verlie Ayers; father, Armon Ayers; siblings Gene Ayers, Lois Kennamer, Eleanor Rice, Bob Ayers, Julia Ayers, Baby Boy Ayers, Sandra Lee Ayers.
