Edward “Eddie” Delbert Hicks, 68 years young, left us to meet his maker, Jesus on Monday, February 15, 2021. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, February 21, 2021 through Rudder Funeral Home with long time friends, Frederick Gipson and Patricia Gipson officiating. Burial followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Eddie was a born again Christian and the third child of Molene and Delbert Hicks. A 1970 graduate of Scottsboro High, his early work included professional and journalistic photographer. The change in vision he developed became an opportunity to help people and relieve their pain through licensed massage therapy. Physically unable to continue meaningful, full time work, Eddie took an early retirement and then earned and Associate from Northeast Community College. Always his countenance was to aid those in need. May we mark his passing as a celebration of triumph, God’s love, our fellowship.
He was a valiant man and for now has left behind his devoted wife of 21 years, Rebecca Hicks; sister, Jessie (Wes) Barnett; nephew, Steve (Terry) Lackey; niece, Janie (Boyd) Wizer; Trent, Janie, James, Rebekah (Mike) Smith; cousins, Jimmy (Debbie) Bramblett, Martha Jane (Ricky) Outzs. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Barney “B.G.” Hicks.
