Larry Stanfield Mannon, 58 of Scottsboro passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 30, 2021, surrounded by family. Graveside services were held on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
A Woodville High Class of 1980 graduate, he later graduated from the University of North Alabama in 1985, where he was an active member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and cheered for the national champion UNA squad. He was a teacher and administrator in education for many years. One of Stan’s many passions was judging cheerleading competitions throughout the United States and Europe. His cheerfriends were very important to him. He also taught lifesaving skills and swimming lessons to many people throughout Jackson County. He was an active member of the Scottsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he served as both a deacon and an elder.
Stan is survived by his wife of 32 years, Elizabeth Campbell Mannon; daughter, Ellen (Carson) McCallie; sisters, Stacey (Nell) Walker, Tracey (Keith) Thames; aunt, Dimple Patterson; niece and nephew, Abby Grace and George Walker; countless cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Ermel Mannon; parents, Larry Edwin and Lorena Stubblefield Mannon; brother, Steve Wilson Mannon.
