Betty Clyde Walker Thomas, 96 of Bridgeport went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Graveside services were held on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Mount Carmel Cemetery with Bro. Josh Myers officiating.
She was born in Bridgeport on Tuesday, May 13, 1924. A Class of 1943 graduate of Bridgeport High, she later married Lawrence Curt Thomas on Saturday, December 21, 1946 upon his return from serving in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. Betty was a member of Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church from the time she was 14. She entertained her grandchildren with wonderful bedtime stories about snowstorms and cowboys. Betty loved planting flowers, baking apple pies and the company of her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Daryl (Judy) Thomas; daughter, Kay (Mac) Wilkey; grandchildren, Kristy (Eddie) Olive, Scott (Summer) Thomas, Amber (Frank) Summers, Clinton (Angela) Thomas, Justin (Misty) Thomas, Brooke (Jared) Deerman; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curt Thomas; parents, Edgar and Blanche Walker; sisters, Gladys Samples, Kathryn Campbell, Audrey Crouch, Bula Vinson.
