Mr. Edward Eugene Reed, 68 of Scottsboro passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2020. A private burial was held on Friday, September 11, 2020 at Cedar Hill Cemetery with a memorial planned for late October at First United Methodist Church.
Gene was a dedicated church man, serving many congregations in North Alabama. In his life, he acted as a choir director, choir member, Sunday School teacher and most recently as an organist at First United Methodist church where he was a faithful member.
He was a graduate of the University of Alabama in Huntsville, where he earned a BA and also completed post-graduate studies. He began as a public school teacher, moved into computer programming and finally software design.
Gene is survived by his wife, Marilyn Morris Reed; daughters, Melissa Reed Hart, Erica Reed Branch, Jennifer Reed Tabor; brother, Winston Reed; aunt, Joyce Sons; 10 grandchildren; a niece, nephew and several cousins.
He was born in Scottsboro, the son of Doris Reed Rousseau and Raymond Reed, who preceded him in death
