Local veterans recently assisted veterans and brothers, Tom Reginal and Jack Helton. These men proudly served their country in our armed forces.
Tom Reginal served eight years in the United States Army and United States Navy in Germany and Korea and is a member of the American Legion. Jack Helton also served in the U.S. Navy and requested assistance with the electrical wiring in his home. The old circuit to their breathing machine kept tripping the breaker and interrupting their sleep.
Local veterans from the American Legion Post 30 and VFW Post 6073 installed new wiring, outlets and breakers to fix the problems. Since the home does not have any air conditioning, the veterans also installed a new window air conditioner in the bedroom.
This is one of the most rewarding projects Veterans Helping Veterans has undertaken, and the brothers expressed their sincere appreciation for the improvements to their home, and all enjoyed fellowship with their brothers-in-arms, laughing and praying together. Groceries were also delivered.
Assistance was also provided to George Hutchens of Fackler. (Pictured on top right are Raymond Brandon and George Hutchens.) George served over five years in the United States Army. Local veterans brought groceries and are assisting George with his VA benefits. Local veterans are encouraged to join in assisting veterans in need. The veterans are also active in giving back to their community in several other ways, including completing Veterans Memorial Park. They especially encourage veterans suffering from PTSD and/or needing the support of fellow veterans to join.
