James Michael “Mike” Copeland, 52 of Scottsboro passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, April 22, 2020. Private graveside services were held for the family.
Mike was a 1986 graduate of Scottsboro High School and attended Northeast State Junior College, studying Business Administration. He then went on to attend State Tech in Memphis where he studied mechanical drafting. Mike enjoyed a long career as a Service Advisor in the automotive industry, earning many awards along the way for his achievement and commitment to excellence.
He will be remembered for his deep love of family and Auburn football. He most enjoyed spending time with his daughter, Emma. Above all, Mike was known for his kind heart and generous spirit. He always looked out for the needs of others before himself.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Emmalee Smith-Copeland; mother, Emma Lou Copeland; sister, Sonya (Perry) Hoge; brothers, Doug Copeland, Tim Copeland, Gary Copeland; nieces, Amanda (Marshall) Murdock, Savannah Graham; nephews, Riley (Lori) Hoge, Jason (Erin) Copeland, Douglas Copeland; great-niece, Emerson Murdock; great-nephews, Hunter Hoge, Jase Hoge, Carter Copeland; many other family members and friends that he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, L. Wayne Copeland; nephew, Dustin Copeland.
Mike’s greatest joy in life was his young daughter, Emmalee Smith-Copeland. The family will be establishing a trust at First National Bank in Scottsboro to secure Emma’s future. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that all donations be directed here.
