Sylvia Norris Bearden, age 84, passed away on March 14, 2025. Funeral services were held on Monday, March 17, 2025 from the Grant Memorial Chapel. Rev. Steve Stanfield officiated. Interment followed in the Free Home Cemetery.
Mrs. Bearden is survived by her husband, Joe Bearden; daughters, Karen (Remy) Rosenhoover and Donna (Hank) Royal; four granddaughters, Jeannie (David) Jackson, Hope (Chris) Sallis, Sheree (Dustin) Lester, and Torey Badar; nine great grandchildren, Jacob, Joseph, Kaina, Kara, Isaiah, James, Konnor, Emma Kate, and Sofie; and her sister-in-law, Kathy Norris.
Mrs. Bearden was preceded in death by her infant son; brother, Bobby; and parents, Clayton Norris and Jean Norris.
Sylvia was born on March 31, 1940 in Birmingham. Shortly after graduating from Phillips High School, Sylvia married Joe Bearden of Grant, Alabama and would have soon celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. Sylvia was a longtime and faithful member of the Grant First Baptist Church. Professionally, Sylvia worked for the United States Army for many years, but greatest job was that of a loving “Mimi” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her love and selflessness will remain her legacy for years to come.
