Ulos Donald Kennamer

Ulos Donald Kennamer, age 91, passed away on February 25, 2025. Funeral services were held on Monday, March 3, 2025 from the Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel. Elder Darrell Chambers officiated. Interment followed in the Peters Cove Cemetery.
Mr. Kennamer is survived by his children, Ann (Donne) Caves, Kenneth Paul (Delena) Kennamer and Donna (Darrell) Chambers; grandchildren, Andy Caves, Kelly Caves Held, Jesse Kennamer, Brett Kennamer, Taylor Kennamer, Tyler Kennamer, Laura Chambers Crist, Jessica Chambers Gevers, Benjamin Chambers, Kayla Kennamer Blakesley, Madison Kennamer O’linger, and Bryant Kennamer; fifteen great-grandchildren; as well as a host of friends and church family.
Mr. Kennamer was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Cora Lou; son, Donald Steven Kennamer; his parents, Ulos Dillworth Kennamer and Annie Lou Kennamer; one brother, Carl Kennamer; and one sister, Mary Bell Hicks.
Born on May 13, 1933, he lived the majority of his life on County Road 30 in Peters Cove in Woodville.
He served four years in the Air Force and was a very proud veteran of our nation. Ulos loved the military and his country. He served in Korea during that conflict. He did not love the war and he carried many haunting memories of war experiences the remainder of his lifetime. In 1951, he was honorably discharged after an accident while working as a mechanic on an aircraft. Over the span of his lifetime, he saw many changes in society and in technology.
During his time in the service, Ulos married the love of his life, Cora Lou on August 27,1953. They had grown up within a few miles of each other but never met until high school. After his discharge, they moved to the Huntsville area for several years while he worked at SCI. After several years, Ulos and Cora moved back home to Jackson County where they lived the rest of their lives together.
Ulos and Cora raised four children, Ann, Steve, Donna and Paul. The light of their lives were their twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
He spent eight years widowed after Cora’s death in 2017. Ulos’s latter years after Cora passed were spent alone on County Road 30.
Ulos had many hobbies and interests including cattle farming, flying (at one time owning his own plane), painting and music, he loved country and blue grass music and picking his guitar with his friends.
Ulos enjoyed his career as a draftsman and designer for many years. He also designed and drew house plans for many local individuals.
He loved his church and enjoyed times with his family. Ulos was blessed to have some of the best caregivers. Family was always welcome, but Ulos adored his helpers. Several special ladies including, Tanya, Connie, Sandy, Rita and Amanda, who worked with the family to make his final days bearable.
He was a faithful member and deacon of Union Primitive Baptist Church in Woodville. He was blessed to live a good long life, filled with many trials and joys. At heart, he was 91 years young.
