Debbie Joyce Barns Brooks, age 67, passed away on March 1, 2025. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from the Rudder Funeral Home. Rev. Ricky Talley and Rev. Charles Underwood officiated. Interment followed in the Stevenson City Cemetery.
Mrs. Brooks is survived by her husband, Roger Brooks; son, Josh (Kate) Brooks; granddaughters, Abbie Brooks, Ryleigh Brooks and Bryleigh Brooks; sisters, Glenda Taylor and Linda Barnes; mother in law, Ruby Brooks; as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her parents, John R. “Rudy” Barnes and Mary Elizabeth “Lit” Barnes; sister, Mary Crabtree; brothers, David Johnny Barns and Danny “Pig” Barnes; brother in law, Stanley Brooks; nephew, Jeremy Brooks; and father in law, Lester Brooks.
She was a beloved wife, mother and “Nanny” to her family. She married her husband, Roger Brooks, on August 24, 1975. Debbie was a devoted mother and loving nanny. Debbie was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Her love for the Lord could be seen in every step of her life. Debbie worked many years at Shaw Industries and was a member of the graduating class of 1976 of Stevenson High School. She enjoyed many months of subbing for Jackson County Board of Education.
