During the recent Scottsboro City Council meeting, the Scottsboro High School Girls Bowling team and the Scottsboro Boys Wrestling team were recognized. Each team recently won their State Tournament.
City Council members approved a $5,000 tourism grant to fund the Castin’ ‘N Catchin’ fishing tournament. The tournament is scheduled for May 3, 2025. It will begin at daylight from the Goose Pond Colony boat ramps.
City Council members approved the purchase of body cameras for the Scottsboro Police Department. The funding was previously approved in the budget for this fiscal year. Cameras will cost the department approximately $38,000.
City Council members approved a budget amendment in the amount of $11,072 for the Solid Waste Department to purchase off-road truck tires.
A budget amendment was tabled to repair and replace a door at the city building located on Abbie Lane. Council woman Donna Frederick made a motion to table the item with hopes that more bids would be received.
