
Spay Neuter Jackson County will be hosting on online auction from March 9th to March 16th. The fundraiser will feature Alabama and Auburn sports memorabilia, many signed and numbered limited editions. Also included are framed art from local artist, books, posters and civil war prints. All of the money raised from the auction will help lower income, disabled, and seniors spay and neuter their pets. The fundraiser will be held online at Bidding owl auction site www.new.biddingowl.com/snica. There will be a link to the fundraiser on SNJCA’s website and Facebook page. SNJCA was started in 2017 by a group of residents who were concerned about animal welfare in Scottsboro and Jackson County. Because of the large overpopulation of dogs and cats, abandoned animals and high shelter euthanasia, they knew a low cost spay and neuter program was badly needed. Since they formed, over 4,450 cats and dogs have been spayed and neutered through their programs.
The first spay/neuter transport was completed in February , 2017.
The first spay/neuter voucher was issues in August, 2017.
During 2017, 244 total cats and dogs were spayed and neutered.
In 2018, 484 dogs and cats were spayed and neutered. In 2019, 465
In 2020, 624 dogs and cats were spayed and neutered.
In 2021, 616 dogs and cats were spayed and neutered.
In 2022, 632 dogs and cats were spayed and neutered.
In 2023, 687 dogs and cats were spayed and neutered.
In 2024, 578 dogs and cats were spayed and neutered.
SNJCA has programs to help all pet owners. Residents who don’t qualify for the low-income voucher program can take advantage of their monthly transports to North Alabama Spay Neuter Clinic in Huntsville. The transport is free, you just pay the clinics discounted prices for the services your pet needs. Information on their programs can be found on their website www.snjca.org or Facebook page.
