Liberty Lane update

In our January 29th edition, I told you that I would continue with the update from Jackson County Commissioner Bill Nance.
During my meeting with Nance, he updated me on the Liberty Lane building and the Jackson County Courthouse.

Nance stated that a lot of progress has been made on the stabilization of the Jackson County Courthouse’s foundation. All public restrooms in the courthouse will be renovated and the roof will be repaired, as well as new drainage systems installed. These projects are expected to be finished in the fall.

As for the Liberty Lane building, Nance stated that the interior demolition has been complete and the remodel of the building has began. When complete, the Jackson County Revenue Commissioner’s office, Jackson County Community Action, Jackson County Mapping and Appraisal, Jackson County Probate Court, Jackson County Extension Office and the State of Alabama Drivers License Office will be moved into that building. The facility will feature 120 parking spots, with handicapped parking conveniently located at the front.

Nance stated that he hopes this provides greater convenience for Jackson County Residents.
