Ila Faye Medlen

Ila Faye Medlen, age 90 of Scottsboro, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024. Funeral services were held on Monday, December 23, 2024 from the Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Scott Cooley and Rev. David Kittrell officiated. Interment followed in the Hytop Cemetery.
Ms. Medlen is survived by her sister, Bonnie Mae Kirkpatrick; brother-in-law, Doug Kirkpatrick; and sisters-in-law, Margaret Wade and Helen Wade.
Ms. Medlin was preceded in death by her parents, Namon Curtis Wade Sr. and Della Holloway; husband, Joe Medlin; infant daughter, Patricia ; siblings, Ruby Mae Wade, Betty Jo (Emmett) Walls, Namon Curtis (Verna Mae) Wade Jr., Hugh Clay Wade, Geraldine (Willis) Brown, and Edd Lee Wade.
Ila Faye was the 5th of 8 children born to Namon Curtis Wade Sr. and Della Holloway. As a child, Faye lived on Crow Mountain but moved to Madison County as a young teenager to help care for her niece.
In 1952, Faye married Joe Medlen and went on to graduate from Butler High School in 1954. The couple had 2 daughters, Patricia (stillborn) and Lisa. Sarah Lynn was the first born to Lisa, giving Faye a granddaughter whom she dearly loved. Lisa later had 3 more children; Gregory Matt, George Morgan and Kaela Jo.
After raising her daughter, Faye moved to Scottsboro and began a daycare out of her home. All of her daycare children were loved and remembered dearly through the years. She later became the owner and operator of a small children’s boutique specializing in pageant dresses, Tots to Teens.
Faye came to the Lord on July 28, 1985 at Nila Free Holiness Church where she received the Holy Ghost. She loved her Lord, church, family and friends with all her heart. Her strength and faith were tested as she battled ovarian cancer for 20 years. Sis. Faye’s trust in the Lord kept her all the days of her life.
