Several personnel items were approved at the recent Scottsboro City Schools Board of Education meeting.
The board approved the resignation of Charlene Bailey, part time Club Wildcat teacher; Makayla Lacy, 1st Grade teacher; and Erin Taylor, Kindergarten teacher.
The board approved the employment of Shelby Smith, 1st grade teacher.
Also approved during the meeting was the Fiscal Year 2023 Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth Capital Grant Amendment. The grant will require matching funds from the Board of Education.
During the last Scottsboro Board of Education Work Session, Scottsboro Board of Education Superintendent Amy Childress spoke to members of the board regarding the modification. Last year, this grant was written for a multipurpose building at Scottsboro High School. However, there were not enough local funds to support matching the grant for that project. In August, the grant was amended to the amount of $1.483 million.
$779,000 of the funds will be used for the remodel of Trammell Stadium and will include payback for the new scoreboard installed last year, demolition of existing lighting and electrical, new sound equipment, new stadium lighting and general electrical work.
$704,300 of the funds will be used for the remodel and upgrade of Bynum Auditorium, located at the Central Office. This will include the removal of existing seating and carpet, thermal moisture protection, carpet, painting, ceiling tiles, concrete polishing, auditorium seating, a business “board” desk and electrical work.
