James Jeffery “Jeff” Carter, age 73, passed away on October 24, 2024. Funeral services were held on October 27, 2024 from the Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. James “Woody” Woodfin and J.B. Huffman officiated.
Mr. Carter is survived by his daughter, Heather Carter (Shane) Williams; grandson, Carter Maxwell Williams; sister, Elaine Carter (Harold) Brookshire; special friend, Teresa Davis; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Carter was preceded in death by his parents, James Hugh Carter and Burma Williams Taylor Carter; and half brother, William “Billy” Taylor, Jr.
Jeff was born on April 17, 1951, in Scottsboro, Alabama. After he graduated from Section High School, Jeff attended Northeast Alabama Community College.
After graduating college, he started his career in finance and loans and worked in Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Jeff most recently worked as a branch manager at First Southern Financial in Decatur, Alabama.
In addition to his job, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing, cooking, and watching the University of Alabama football games.
