Angel adoption opens Nov. 6th

There are approximately 90 foster children in Jackson County that are in the custody of the Jackson County Department of Human Resources (DHR). These children range from infants to 18 years old, and they live throughout Jackson County with local foster families. Each of these children has made a personal wish list for Christmas. Due to limited resources, DHR cannot provide extra money to foster families for the holidays to fulfill these children’s Christmas wishes.

For the past 25 years, the Community Service League (CSL), under the Mountain Lakes Chamber of Commerce, has promoted the Angel Tree to benefit and provide for these children. The Community Service League is asking for support again this year to assist in this heartfelt project for the foster children of Jackson County.

As the holiday approaches and your committes, school, church or family begins choosing someone less fortunate that needs assistance, it is the hope of CSL that you will consider providing support for these children. Approximately $150 per child is spent for Christmas, but donations in any amount are appreciated.

To select a child from the Angel Tree, please visit the Mountain Lakes Chamber of Commerce, located at 407 East Willow Street in Scottsboro. If you do select an Angel, please return all unwrapped gifts to DHR, located at 305 Bingham Street in Scottsboro, by Tuesday, December 3rd so that these children can receive their gifts for Christmas.

The Community Service League will also accept monetary donations in honor or memory of a loved one. They will send a card designating that a gift has been made in their name. All angels will be available for adoption by Wednesday, November 6.

For additional information please reach out to the Mountain Lakes Chamber of Commerce by calling 256-259-5500.
