Fishing tip of the week

Fishing Friends are Just Different
by Mike Gerry

I’ve been fishing a long time, and my life has been blessed being able to do so. Fishing is just a different relationship for me over my many years of meeting and spending time with those I have met. People from all walks of life have crossed my path of life on the water, for me those many different folks have just meant more, they have become friends and people I rely on to be honest with me, to tell me the good the bad the ugly, people who have made a difference in my thought process and people who have become true friends that I can count on to be there when there needed.

They are just different, fishermen seem to cling together, they think alike, and they have much more than just fishing in common.
I am someone who never really developed long term relationships, have learned how true friends act, how they work to help each other and how tight we are as a lover of a sport that molds you together. Nowhere in my many years on this earth can I remember the common togetherness I have had with people as I do now in my quest to enjoy a day on the water or develop a relationship with a sponsor.

Customers and sponsors become friends, some become long term friends, some just stay as customers, but all put your minds together and form a thread that for some reason lasts longer than many things and people I have met over the years. Maybe it is getting older that makes me feel this way or maybe it’s the relationship you mold on the boat as you spend the day together; not sure but it’s different its long lasting and I appreciate every customer and sponsor I have ever put in the boat and calling them a friend is something I will always cherish!
Enjoy your time on the water and enjoy fishing, it will bring you real joy, real friends and add times in life you’ll never forget! As I see and feel life shortening, I just wanted to thank all those who have fished with me and all those that I can call a friend!
