John “Jack” Warren Willoughby, Jr., age 81 of Scottsboro passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024. No funeral services are planned. Interment will be held at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at the United States National Cemetery, located at 3133 Highway 119 in Montevallo.
Mr. Willoughby was a United States Army E-5 Vietnam Veteran. He served in the New Orleans Police Department for thirty years before retiring to Alabama. In his NOPD career and after, Mr. Willoughby was recognized as an expert on Asian organized crime. He published several police training manuals on the subject. He also authored three fiction novels based on his experiences with the New Orleans Police Department.
Mr. Willoughby is survived by his stepson, Brendin Harb; daughter in law, Sumie Hoshikado; and cousin, Fleet Willoughby.
Mr. Willoughby was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Simpson Willoughby; and parents, John Willoughby and Imogene Willoughby.
