Art Society to hold silent auction

The Art Society of Jackson County would like to invite everyone to its inaugural Silent Auction at the Scottsboro Jackson County Rescue Squad on June 1, 2024, from 6-9 p.m. “We’re excited for this event,” says Denise White, board president. “The evening will feature live music by Trenton Peeples, a plate dinner, and items to bid on.” Most importantly, says White, funds from the auction will fund the Art Society’s Artist Grant program. “We believe the arts matter, and we’re raising money to help support a local artist,” says White.

Tickets are available now for $10 and can be purchase at artsocietyofjc.com/silent-auction. Tickets will include a hot dog, chips and a drink.

Auction items can be seen before the event on the Society’s Facebook page. “We’ll also have a bake sale set up,” says White. “There will be plenty to shop and do, and the proceeds go to a good cause.”

The Artist Grant application is open to all visual artists residing in Jackson County for at least two years. Applications close on June 1, 2024, with the winner to be announced on September 1, 2024.
