The Jackson County United Givers Fund recently held their 55th annual membership meeting. For the 2024 fundraising season, UGF will support 14 local organizations who continuously pour into our community.
Those organizations include the Jackson County Chapter of the American Red Cross, Ben Sanford Boys and Girls Club, CASA – Care Assurance Systems for the Aging and Homebound, Christmas Charities of Jackson County, Crisis Services of North Alabama, North Central Alabama Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts of America, Greater Alabama Council, Impact Learning Center, Jackson County 4-H Club, Jackson County Children’s Advocacy Center, Life Resource Services, Michael Scott Learning Center and The ARC of Jackson County.
UGF President Daniel Colon announced the resurrection of older fund raising efforts, such as the T-Shirt fundraiser and also new ideas for fundraising efforts.
The first of the new efforts will include a Pickleball Fundraising Tournament. The event will be held on Saturday, April 6 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Scottsboro Pickleball Complex. With a registration deadline of March 29, the tournament entry fee is $35 per player for the first event and $10 per player for each additional event.
Events include a Men’s doubles round robin, a Women’s doubles round robin and a Mixed doubles round robin. Age categories include Open, Over 50 and Over 60.
Players and sponsors are currently being sought for the event.
In the event of weather cancellation the event will be held on April 13.
