Paul Bates, 74 of Stevenson passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020. A celebration of life service was held on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at New Hermon Baptist Church. He was a dear husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Before he became ill he was an avid golfer, foreman at Norandal Aluminum, member of Masonic Lodge 357, and above all, could yell roll tide louder than anyone. He loved Alabama football, was always in an Alabama shirt and raced around on his Hoveround every day he could.
Mr. Bates is survived by his wife, Judy; son, Darren; daughter, Paula (Ben) Pierce; stepchildren, Vicky (Terry) Northam, Lisa (Carl) Goolesby, Steve Hart; grandchildren, Britny (Jordan) Sims, Casey (Jamie) Crow, Ali (Gavin) Daniel, Chris, Dusty, Kaylal, Kane. Step-grandchildren, Jeremy (Brandy) Albright, Joathan Hastings, Dana Northam, Samantha Solt, Stephanie Solt; brothers, Jimmy and Larry; sisters, Shelby Harris, Robbie Haney; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.He was preceded in death by his wife, Aileen; brother, Olen; sister, Leole; father, Casey; mother, Willie.
