Jan Allison

Jan “Maw Jan” Edmonds Allison, born on Saturday, December 23, 1944 to Curtis and Dorene Edmonds, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2023 in her home with her devoted daughter by her side. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 with Dr. chuck Conley officiating. Burial followed at Paint Rock Cemetery.

She was a hard-working single mother to three children for many years before meeting and marrying the love of her life, Jimmy Allison. Maw Jan earned a reputation as a kind and extremely generous woman who loved spending time with her family and friends. She was actively involved in her church and loved going on trips and shopping with the girls. Her favorite thing to shop for was new furniture, and she wasn’t bashful about asking for help to move or rearrange it. Luckily, she had several sons and grandsons up for the challenge. Jan was an accommodating host, always welcoming others into both her home and lake house – under the condition they recycle their cans and plastic, of course! To know Jan was to love her.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren, Brad (Keshia) Stewart, Ashley (Kenny) Downs, Zack (Jessica) Jones, Melanie (Justin Mullinax) Stewart, Zane Stewart, Abram Stewart, Max Stewart; great-grandchildren, Kurtis Stewart, Sam McHenry, Sarah Stewart, Brantlie and Harper Downs, Jett and Bridge Jones; brother, Henry Edmonds; brothers-in-law, Donald Watson, Ronnie Ingram; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy “Duck”; parents; sisters, Annette Watson, Margaret Ingram.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Grant, P.O. Box 153, Grant Ala. 35747 or www.fbcgrant.com.
