Mr. Boyd Ray Scott, 66 of Chavies, born on Tuesday, December 4, 1956, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Shepherd’s Cove. Funeral services were held on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Liberty Baptist Church with Bro. Tony Ivey and Bro. Hayden Wootten officiating. Burial followed in New Canaan Cemetery.

Boyd was saved in 1964. After graduating from Plainview High in 1975, he was called to preach in 1976. Before becoming permanently disabled, Boyd worked for many years in the textile industry. He had a love for Sacred Harp music and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Henagar. His family would like to express thanks to the doctors and nurses at Memorial Hospital, especially Donna Smith and Shepherd’s Cove Hospice, as well as Rainsville Drugs for all of their help.

He is survived by his brothers, Harold (Cynthia) Scott; Tim (Martha) Scott; sisters, Betty (Don) McLaughlin, Becky (David) Derrick, Nancy Raby, Frances Suttles; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Audra Scott; grandparents, Joseph and Mae Graden, Isom and Mary Scott.
