Mr. Joseph Bryan Whitaker, 55 of San Diego and formerly of Grant, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023. Funeral services were held on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Grant Memorial Chapel with burial following in Free Home Cemetery.

Joe grew up in Grant and graduated from Kate Duncan Smith DAR High. He then attended Auburn University and graduated in Forestry in 1995. He lived in the Shoals and worked for International Paper for many years, living the last several years of his life in San Diego, California, surrounded by many close friends.

He is survived by his son, Colton (Annabelle) Whitaker; mother, Ann (Stan) Guest; brother, Matt Whitaker; sister, LeAnn (Brad) Whisenant; partner, Collin Boudreaux.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Whitaker; grandparents, Florence and William Whitaker, Margie and Wallace Jones.
