The City of Scottsboro has been named “Tree City of the Year” for the State of Alabama for 2023 by the Alabama Urban Forestry Association. Dr. David West, from the Alabama Urban Forestry Association, will present the proclamation from Governor Ivey to Mayor Jim McCamy and the Scottsboro Tree Commission Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. at City Hall, located at 316 South Broad Street. “It is truly an honor to have the City of Scottsboro chosen as Alabama’s Tree City of the Year,” said Mrs. Donna Greer, Chairperson of the Scottsboro Tree Commission. “I’d like to thank all Tree Commission members, past and present, for making this possible. We also thank the Alabama Urban Forestry Association for granting the City of Scottsboro this honor.”
“I congratulate the Scottsboro Tree Commission for their hard work that resulted in Scottsboro being named Tree City of Year,” said Scottsboro Mayor Jim McCamy. “The Alabama Urban Forestry Association chooses a city to be named ‘Tree City of the Year’ that has an exemplary tree program, which includes planning, planting, and maintenance of our urban forests. The City of Scottsboro has been designated as a Tree City USA for the past 38 consecutive years by the Arbor Day Foundation.”
