Daisy Jeffery Shell, 92, born on Friday, May 30, 1930, lived in Alabama her whole life and passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 2, 2023 at Scottsboro Funeral Home with burial following in Goose Pond Cemetery.
Daisy went to Chattanooga at 18 and worked in a factory for many years. During that time, she met and married Norman Shell and began her family, having three children. She attended beauty school and owned and operated her own beauty salon, retiring in 1993, when she moved back to Alabama. She taught Sunday school in Chattanooga churches for 17 years before joining Shiloh Baptist Church in Alabama. At Shiloh, she was a very active volunteer for many years, serving as president of the Democrat Club , the Singles Club and Ladies Auxiliary of the Moose Lodge, where she spent many hours helping people in need. She also managed the social dance for the ladies Auxiliary, American Legion and VFW. Daisy did many types of painting and was very good at quilting. She was also a singer/songwriter, singing in many churches in and around Scottsboro.
She is survived by her son, Barry Shell; sister, Mary (Lewis Wicks) Jeffery; several nieces and nephews; many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Shell; children, Janie Shell, Alan Shell.
