Scottsboro Jackson County Rescue Squad Captain Eddie Tigue was present at the last Scottsboro City Council work session held on March 2, 2020.
Commissioner Jason Venable read aloud a letter to be sent to the Jackson County Legislative Delegation at the last commission meeting held on Thursday, February 27, 2020. The letter comes in hope that the Delegation will place an item on the 2020 general election ballot that will offer a permanent solution to the county’s financial woes.
*UPDATE: As of 3/24/20, the Rescue Squad has rescheduled their annual bass tournament. The tournament will be held Saturday, June 27, 2020.

The Scottsboro Jackson County Rescue Squad (SJCRS) will be holding their 9th annual $10K Bass Tournament at Goose Pond Colony on June 27, 2020. This is the only fundraising event the SJCRS holds all year, and it’s the only tournament on a local scale with a payout that large.

An awards ceremony took place at the last Scottsboro City Council meeting held on Monday, February 24, 2020. The Life Saving Awards were presented to Scottsboro Jackson County Rescue Squad’s Robert Shook, Scottsboro Police Department’s Sergeant Brian Eakin and Scottsboro Fire Department’s Lieutenant Landon Baker.

Jackson County Corrections Deputies Matthew Myers and Zach Hatchett were awarded their certificates of completion and lapel pins from the National Institute of Jail Operations at the last Jackson County Commission work session held on February 18, 2020. Myers and Hatchett completed all four required classes and will now take this knowledge with them to the Jackson County Jail as an asset.
