Highlands employees test positive for COVID-19

City and County leaders and medical officials held a press conference via Facebook yesterday to update citizens about the COVID-19 outbreak and response. During the press conference Dr. Lonnie Albin, Cheif Medical Officer of Highlands Medical Center, confirmed that four employees of Highlands had tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Seven JCSO staff members quarantined as a precaution

According to Jackson County Sheriff Chuck Phillips, early Sunday, March 22, 2020, James Hunter Scott, age 25 with a Stevenson address, walked into the Bridgeport Police Department and stated he had shot a man in Jasper, Tennessee. Three Jackson County deputies and one investigator responded and made the arrest in Alabama, and held Scott in the Jackson County Jail for Tennessee. He was extradited to Tennessee that evening.

Commission hears from Mayor Shelton
