The Scottsboro-Jackson Heritage Center is currently raising funds to complete a 3,000+ square foot addition to the back of the Brown-Proctor House, where the center is currently housed. The project has been in the works since 2013, and construction was finally able to begin last year.

At the Jackson County Commission meeting held on Monday, January 25, 2021, Interim Chairman Jason Venable gave an update on the counter-surveillance sweep that was done at the courthouse after allegations of covert surveillance surfaced. Venable held a four-page report as he gave the results.
Governor Kay Ivey and the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) announced Friday starting February 8, ADPH will extend eligibility for COVID-19 vaccinations to include people 65 or older, and additional groups of frontline workers.

What is TAP?
Aging at Home Support of Jackson County has set up the Telephone Assurance Program, (for Jackson County seniors 60 and up), and it is designed to provide security, alleviate loneliness, reduce isolation, avoid victimization and prevent premature entry into nursing homes.
