Selena Necklaus is working towards earning the Girl Scout Gold Award. Her project will focus on flag education and proper flag disposal. Selena’s project has two different components: Development of a lesson plan focusing on flag care, proper flag folding and disposal which was taught at the Scottsboro City after-school program “Club Wildcat” with the outcome of kids being able to verbalize flag facts, and be able to demonstrate proper flag folding technique.

The 6th Annual Scottsboro BBQ Festival will take place Saturday, October 9 on the downtown square in Scottsboro, Ala. The festival will feature activities throughout the day for every age, beginning at 9 a.m. and concluding approximately 7 p.m. General admission to the festival is free.

Scottsboro City Mayor Jim McCamy recently expressed concern over the growing COVID issue in Scottsboro and Jackson County. According to Highlands Medical Center, as of Tuesday, August 24th, there were 12 COVID positive inpatients and 10 of those were unvaccinated.
