The third annual Operation Back 2 School fundraiser is underway! Currently there are 115 Jackson County children in DHR custody, and 70 of these children will start school in August. This fundraiser is specifically aimed at buying these children back to school clothing.
MONTGOMERY – Governor Kay Ivey on Wednesday announced the Revive Alabama grant program to support small businesses in Alabama that have been impacted by COVID-19. Revive Alabama will reimburse small businesses up to a combined $100 million for expenses they have incurred due to operational interruptions caused by the pandemic and related business closures.
Alabama’s 15th annual Back to School Sales Tax Holiday will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 17 and end at 12 midnight on Sunday, July 19. Both Scottsboro and Jackson County will participate in the tax-free weekend, allowing shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain school supplies, computers, books and clothing free of sales tax. Local sales tax may apply. Retailers are required to participate and may not charge tax on items that are legally declared tax-exempt during the Sales Tax Holiday.
Kim Killen was recently presented with a certificate recognizing the 25 years she has served the state of Alabama as a dedicated public servant in the Jackson County Circuit Clerk’s office. Kim has been an employee there since 1996.
